1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and, optionally, your display name. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google. We also collect study session data (duration, timer mode, theme used) to provide your statistics.

2. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to provide the StudyByMe service — syncing your study sessions across devices, displaying your stats, and personalizing your experience. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes.

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored securely using Supabase, which provides enterprise-grade encryption at rest and in transit. Your password is never stored in plain text — it is hashed using industry-standard algorithms.

4. Cookies & Local Storage

We use essential cookies for authentication (keeping you signed in). We also use browser localStorage to store timer settings and session data for users who are not signed in.

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. GA4 sets the following cookies: _ga (expires after 2 years) and _ga_*(expires after 2 years). These cookies collect anonymous usage data such as pages visited and session duration. The data is processed by Google in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

5. Third-Party Services

We use Google OAuth for optional sign-in. When you authenticate via Google, their privacy policy applies to the data they process. We only receive the information listed in Section 1. We also use Google Analytics 4 for anonymous usage analytics as described in Section 4.

6. Your Rights

You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us. You can also export your study session data upon request.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of StudyByMe after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
